There are landscapes we remember long after we have left them.

The Fields We Remember is an original oil painting inspired by that feeling of looking across the countryside beneath a dramatic summer sky. Golden light breaks through the clouds, illuminating the fields below while distant buildings and trees sit quietly along the horizon.

I have deliberately kept the brushwork loose and expressive, allowing the landscape to be suggested rather than described in fine detail. The result is a landscape that feels almost like a remembered place — somewhere between reality and memory.

Perhaps it will remind you of a childhood landscape, a favourite walk, a holiday in the countryside, or simply a moment when you stopped and looked up at the sky.
