The Story

This small original oil painting was inspired by the dramatic landscape of the Brecon Beacons in Wales, where the changing light can transform the mountains and open countryside in an instant.

I was drawn to the extraordinary colours of this particular evening — the deep violet and mauve of the gathering clouds, the golden light breaking through beneath them, and the dark silhouette of the hills stretching across the horizon.

I wanted to capture not simply a particular view, but the atmosphere of that moment: the stillness of the landscape beneath a vast and changing Welsh sky.
